There are several definitions of coaching, each of which provides additional insight.
At Cadran, we consider coaching to be the art of supporting a group or individual in expanding their awareness and range of actions.

Individual coaching takes the form of private meetings between the coach and the coachee, either face-to-face, via video or audio. Mentoring is a form of support that combines coaching and consulting. Training is a one-way transfer of knowledge or expertise from the trainer to the trainee. Coaching is a partnership that combines the expertise of the coachee (regarding their situation and profession) with the expertise of the coach (regarding processes that promote greater awareness and action). Therapy aims to restore a person to a “normal” and healthy state. Coaching aims to achieve a higher state of openness in one’s field of consciousness and actions. In consulting, the consultant provides advice. They believe they know the right answer to the situation because they are experts in their field. In coaching, the coach does not give advice. They may make suggestions, but without presenting them as advice, because they want the client to make the decision that is best for them. The coach helps the coachee become aware of their own obstacles and helps them to overcome their indecision and take action. There are four types of individual coaching. Several studies have calculated the average return on investment for coaching. In the case of executive coaching as practiced by Cadran, the return on investment is between 500% and 700% (see study McGovern et al., 2001). The coach does not commit to the outcome, as this is the responsibility of the coachee, who is ultimately the one who implements the means to achieve success, as identified during the coaching. For their part, coaches are bound by a strict code of ethics to support their clients in identifying and implementing the means to achieve success. The quality of coaching is based on two criteria: Cadran coaches are committed to maintaining strict confidentiality regarding the content of sessions. Unless the coachee publicly discloses that they have engaged Cadran for coaching (in particular through testimonials on social media or on our website), we will keep their name confidential and only mention the company they work for in our references. When several coaches from the Cadran team are involved in a project, information may be exchanged between the coaches concerned, as confidentiality applies outside the group of coaches involved. Only the commercial data of our coachees is retained by Cadran (surname, first name, email address, company, type of contract) in order to be able to follow up with former clients. Each coach may be required to take notes on the content of exchanges with the coachee. This data is stored either in handwritten form or in encrypted form on the coach’s computer. In the event that a user completes surveys, tests or quizzes hosted on the cadran.pro website, all data recorded is stored on our servers and accessible only to authorized persons, always under confidentiality. Individual coaching sessions must be paid for in advance Unused individual coaching sessions will be refunded in full. For online payments from our website, you can choose between PayPal and Stripe, depending on the type of service. If you wish to pay by credit card or bank transfer, we will provide you with a payment link or the relevant bank details upon request. Individual coaching usually takes place over 10 sessions. Some specific packages offer a different number of sessions. A coaching cycle generally lasts between three months and one year, depending on the topics selected. Some coaching programs, such as onboarding coaching, last 18 months. At the end of each session, you and your coach will set the date for the next one. The structure of a session is not set in stone. It may vary depending on the topic being addressed and your progress in the coaching program. Often, the session will begin with a review of what you have accomplished since the previous session, then delve deeper into a topic, and conclude with the development of an action plan. The complete coaching cycle often has the following structure. The first session consists of refining your objective and the indicators of success. The last session aims to take stock of the progress made and define the path to follow without the coach. All the sessions in between consist of taking steps towards your objective. The Cadran team and its partner coaches offer coaching in German, English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Russian. Among these tools, the best known is questioning aimed at opening your consciousness. The coach will not teach you these tools because your goal is not to become a coach. The art of coaching is choosing the tool or question that will have the most positive impact on you at a given moment on the path to your goal, and then choosing another one when the time is right. Ultimately, the coach uses the selection of tools and questions that is best suited to you. The coach chooses questions that encourage you to reflect and open your mind. There are several ways to meet your coach, either in person or remotely, before booking a session. However, as soon as the group exceeds 10 people, the session will include moments in a plenary session and other moments in sub-groups of 6-8 people. We distinguish between two categories of collective: the team and the group. The team is a collective united by a common goal, which can only be achieved through the commitment of each member, beyond the time spent on coaching. The group is a collective that is united solely during the coaching period by an interest in a given topic. Often, a team is made up of people from the same organization. A team can also bring together people from different organizations who are united by a common project through a partnership agreement or other arrangement. Conversely, a group often brings together people from different organizations or different departments within the same organization, who will have little or no interaction after the coaching. Executive Committee coaching is a special type of team coaching. It involves supporting management during committee meetings to establish or restore mutual trust, open and effective communication, and improved decision-making. The term “cascading” refers to the action of disseminating an approach adopted at a higher level to several levels of an organization. For example, after engaging in strategic thinking at its level, a Management Committee may wish to involve several other levels of the organization in this process. In this case, Cadran designs, organizes, and facilitates various coaching formats to achieve the desired level of participation. Depending on the situation and the number of people involved, Cadran will offer a range of formats, from full-group training to individual coaching, small group facilitation, or the creation of pairs, trios, or mentoring relationships. Characteristics of Coaching
Group coaching takes the form of group workshops, sometimes divided into sub-groups, led by one or more coaches. A distinction is made between group coaching, which brings together people from different backgrounds, and team coaching, which brings together members of a group united by a common goal.
Organizational coaching is a combination of group and individual coaching aimed at having a broad and lasting impact on several levels of the organization.
– Personal coaching: when the objective involves only the coachee (motivation, stress management, time and priority management, etc.)
– Relationship coaching: when the objective is to establish or restore a healthy and trusting relationship with someone else
– Interpersonal coaching: when the objective is to establish or restore group dynamics and involves issues such as inspirational leadership, charisma, and conflict management between different people
– Strategic coaching: when the objective is to have a clear vision and make calm decisions when faced with strategic issues within the organization that fall under the coachee’s responsibility.
